Xherdan Shaqiri of the Switzerland National Team has joined the Chicago Fire as a winger in the Major League Soccer Club!

We have been invited to watch Shaqiri play with the Chicago Fire against our home team, Orlando City Soccer Club in Orlando on Saturday, April 9 at 1:00pm. We will be together in a section under shade in the Southend 106 level.

Consular Employee / Accountant (100 %)

Due to the nature of work, preference has to be given to candidates with Swiss Citizenship

The Consulate General of Switzerland in Atlanta is seeking a qualified candidate for a 100% permanent position as Consular Officer / Accountant beginning on or about August 1st, 2022. The position is primarily administrative and customer based in nature and requires excellent organizational and verbal skills. The objective of the position is to handle consular services like civil status affairs, process identity documents for the Swiss community and to manage the accounting. As this is a customer service position, strong verbal and written communications are required, as well as polite and courteous service skills Additional duties beyond those listed here will be determined and assigned as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities:  Verify civil status documents and handle civil status affairs  Conduct processes necessary to issue Swiss identity documents  Manage a database of Swiss citizens residing in the consular district  Respond to consular inquiries and questions from individuals in person, in writing and by phone  Accounting with all related tasks like paying bills and salaries, etc.

Requirements: (Please do not apply if you do not meet all requirements listed below)  Excellent communication skills in English, including the ability to conduct business in writing, in person and on the telephone  Very good German or French skills  At least two years of experience in an office environment  Computer skills, including Microsoft Office  Interpersonal skills and a courteous demeanor to solve problems  Team work mentality and ability to work toward achieving objectives, with attention to detail and the ability to multi-task in a fast-moving environment  Employment authorization for the USA We offer:  Inviting work atmosphere, interesting work in a foreign representation  Competitive salary and benefits package  Pension plan, 20 days of vacation  American and some Swiss holidays  Location in Midtown Atlanta

2022 Annual Meeting with Potluck and Game

We kicked off the 2022 Swiss Club year with a potluck luncheon, followed by our Annual Meeting and ended with a game testing your knowledge of all things Swiss!

12:00pm We enjoyed a variety of traditional Swiss and other potluck specialties! Thanks to all our members who showed off your baking, cooking, purchasing skills by providing a salad, side or dessert to accompany the Club's donation of a delicious ham.

2:00pm What's on tap for 2022? The Annual Meeting reviewed our 2020 meeting minutes and it was approved by the members. Looking forward to our Spring Event, most of the members requested family friendly activities such as kayaking, biking, playground and potluck. Our 2019 financial statements were reviewed and approved. We said goodbye and thank you to some of our Board members as their terms ended: Bill Gompel (Treasurer), Ida McLuckie (Secretary), Mary Spirig (Director), Susanne Margot (Director). We welcomed new Board members: Marlies Schubiger (Treasurer), Tae Deprez Harper (Secretary), Bill Gompel (Director).

3:00pm A fun game was played which encouraged teams of 4 to meet and learn about our new website. All members did very well in putting their piece of the Swiss photo together to create their team and then found the answer to questions about Switzerland which were found in this website. Congratulations to Reto Badraun, Luc Burkhardt, Thuvan Tran and guest Liz.

The event was held in a beautiful location under the trees of Cypress Grove Park in the Holden area.

The consular officers of the Swiss Consulate Atlanta visited the Swiss citizens in the Orlando area where over 200 individuals were able to record their biometric data for their passport renewal. Our Honorary Consul and Swiss Club member, Luc Burkhardt hosted the Swiss Consulate Atlanta team and Graziella Hediger, President and Leslie Gaibrois Skillman, Vice-President of the Swiss Club at a dinner to welcome our guests.

Excited to return back to Switzerland? Edelweiss is back with direct flights between Zurich and Tampa and can currently be BOOKED for travel between March 2022 and February 2023.
